Butterfly Magnet! The Sweet Joe Pye Weed Eutrochium is easy to grow and its sweet-scented flowers are irresistible for Monarchs, Swallowtails and many other butterflies. This plant can reach up to 7 feet high and does great in shady locations. Blooms pale pink to purple flowers from July to September.

Joe Pye weed seeds need a period of cold stratification prior to planting. Seeds in the refrigerator for 30 to 60 days, or direct sow them outside in the fall or winter.

Direct sow by raking soil and scattering seeds on top. Press in firmly, do not cover, and water well. Keep soil moist during germination period.

Cut the plants back to 4 to 8 inches above the ground once it is done blooming. New growth will begin in the spring.
